This role focuses on the operational excellence of AWS data centers in India, providing hands-on management of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure. You'll be a key point of contact for overall operational accountability, driving efficient and cost-effective service delivery.

Take end-to-end ownership of data center changes, incidents, and problems, driving root cause analysis and resolution. Ensure the timely and effective maintenance and repair of critical facility infrastructure and assets. Develop and maintain essential documentation, including standard operating procedures, emergency response plans, and preventive maintenance programs. Champion best-in-class operating practices, maintaining a deep understanding of data center systems and their operational alternatives. Manage engineering aspects, including financial control, regulatory compliance, staff training, and development. Oversee health, safety, environmental, and energy management initiatives. Generate regular engineering reports, ensuring adherence to contracted deliverables, SLAs, and KPIs. Effectively communicate technical information and objectives to internal teams and external vendors. Provide hands-on support for equipment installation, decommissioning, and replacement, and conduct technical compliance audits. Manage energy and environmental programs, staying current with industry innovations. Coordinate incident and emergency response, ensuring 24x7 operations without availability impact, including vendor coordination and potential on-site dispatch.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, alongside demonstrated knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC and controls. Candidates must possess at least 3 years of experience in electrical or mechanical fields.
Preferred qualifications include 2+ years of data center engineering experience and 3+ years in operations and on-call support for critical facilities. Possession of an electrical or mechanical journeyman license, or an operating engineering license such as DC II or DC III, is advantageous. Experience in construction or project management is also considered a valuable asset.
