Join AWS Infrastructure Services and be instrumental in designing, planning, deploying, and operating the global infrastructure that powers the cloud. This role is central to maintaining the continuous availability of servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems for AWS data centers, ensuring customers access the innovation they depend on.

You will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team including software, hardware, and network engineers, alongside supply chain experts, security specialists, and operations managers. Collaboration across AWS is key to upholding the highest safety and security standards, delivering scalable capacity at optimal cost, and fostering an inclusive culture that champions bold ideas from conception to completion.

Responsibilities

The Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer ensures all critical electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center operates within contractual specifications. This involves proactive risk management, mitigation strategies, executing corrective and preventive maintenance on vital infrastructure, managing vendor relationships, and comprehensive metric reporting.

Key duties include overseeing contractors and vendors on-site, ensuring adherence to established procedures and local legislation. You will establish performance benchmarks, analyze data, and produce reports on facility infrastructure operations and maintenance. Collaboration with DCO managers and business leaders is essential for coordinating projects, managing capacity, and optimizing plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency. This role also supports the installation of racks and the provision of power and cooling.

A typical day involves assisting in troubleshooting facility and rack-level incidents within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs). You'll conduct rack installations and decommissioning, alongside general facility management. Providing operational data and key performance indicators is crucial for maintaining uptime. Oversight of maintenance and operations for all essential equipment is a core function. Note that work schedules can vary based on site needs, potentially involving 12-hour shifts, rotating schedules, and on-call duties.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required, complemented by a minimum of three years of experience in data center engineering or operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is essential for daily tasks and reporting.

Preferred qualifications include five years of data center engineering or operations experience. Holding an operating engineering license such as DC II, DC III, or an equivalent certification is advantageous. Experience in managing operations and providing on-call support for data center facilities, mission-critical plants, or production facilities is highly desirable.
