The Practice Customer Engineering (CE) Manager will lead and inspire a team of subject matter experts. This role focuses on guiding customers through accelerated workload migration and resolving technical challenges. Cultivating a culture of technical excellence and deep understanding of architecture, delivery, and consumption within your specialized domain and Google Cloud's offerings is paramount.

Lead a team of Practice Customer Engineers, cultivating team culture, talent development, and strategic skill-building to establish AI-ready data foundations for maximizing proprietary data value. Foster key partnerships and provide thought leadership in data platform strategy, governance, and agentic AI architectures. Collaborate closely with Sales on go-to-market strategies for Data and AI workloads and the development of repeatable solution patterns.
Integrate technical leadership with operational efficiency. Conduct review meetings to drive technical successes and refine migration strategies with clients and prospects. Oversee the development of prototypes and proofs-of-concept.
Engage cross-functionally within Google and with partners to address technical challenges and relay valuable field insights to Product and Engineering teams. Drive compelling technical narratives around advanced data platforms, lakehouses, and open tables, while actively integrating unstructured and multimodal data.
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required. Candidates should possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in cloud-native architecture, ideally within a customer-facing or support capacity. Proven leadership experience, including people management, team leadership, mentorship, or coaching, is essential. Experience engaging in technical discussions, delivering demonstrations, developing prototypes, and conducting workshops with customers is also necessary. A strong background in data and AI/ML technologies is crucial for this role.
Preferred qualifications include demonstrated success in influencing cross-functional teams, customers, and partners to achieve business objectives, enhance customer experiences, and drive customer expansion. Experience as a pre-sales manager or a technical customer-facing people manager within professional services or a sales engineering team is highly valued. Familiarity with data governance, metadata, and semantic layers as a foundation for grounding AI agents in enterprise data is beneficial. Experience in driving the adoption of specialized workloads such as Cloud AI and Data Analytics with technical decision-makers is also desirable.
