This role focuses on developing custom software solutions as a Custom Software Engineer, enhancing components across various systems and applications. Leveraging modern frameworks and agile methodologies, the goal is to deliver scalable, high-performing solutions that precisely meet specific business requirements. A key aspect of this position involves designing, configuring, and refining SAP Materials Management (MM) processes. The role also incorporates AI-assisted development tools and copilots to streamline requirement analysis, configuration, testing, documentation, and problem-solving, ensuring efficient procurement, inventory management, and supplier collaboration.
Key responsibilities include configuring and optimizing core SAP MM processes such as Procure to Pay (P2P), Purchase Requisition/Order Management, Source List & Quota Arrangements, Vendor Management, Inventory Management, Reservations & Movements, Material Master Data, and Release Strategies & Pricing. This position will utilize AI copilots to generate functional specifications, validate configuration logic, create high-quality test cases, and automate essential documentation. The role also supports end-to-end delivery from requirements gathering to hypercare, and integrates MM with other SAP modules (SD, FI, PP, QM) and external systems using standard APIs, IDocs, and middleware.
Furthermore, responsibilities involve applying AI tools to accelerate requirement interpretation, process design, data validation, error diagnostics, test creation, and document generation. The role integrates pre-built AI services to enhance MM operations, including automated classification, predictive signals, and intelligent summarization of exceptions. LLM-assisted troubleshooting will be used to reduce incident resolution time. Maintaining compliance with procurement governance, audit policies, and operational controls is crucial, along with participating in process optimization discussions supported by AI insights and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Required skills include a strong understanding of SAP MM, particularly P2P processes, purchasing document flows, vendor evaluation, and inventory management. Experience with configuring material master, vendor master, PO/PR processing, goods movements, and release strategies is essential. Familiarity with integration across SAP SD, FI, PP, and QM, along with knowledge of IDocs, outputs, pricing procedures, and common MM troubleshooting patterns, is necessary.
This role also demands AI-ready skills, including hands-on experience with AI copilots, LLM-powered documentation tools, and AI-assisted testing accelerators. The ability to integrate pre-built AI capabilities into MM workflows for automation and insight generation is required, alongside an understanding of responsible AI usage and its limitations. General skills encompass strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in procurement and material management, the capacity to translate business needs into logical SAP MM configurations, clear communication, collaboration skills, and a continuous learning mindset with comfort adopting AI-enabled productivity tools.
