Write and maintain unit tests for existing and new code to improve coverage on assigned modules. Build and maintain development and test tooling, including property injection scripts and log parsers. Assist with build, flash, and bring-up activities on development boards and target head units. Reproduce reported defects, gather necessary logs, and fix straightforward issues with guidance.
Actively learn the AOSP build and development workflow, the Car Framework property model, and team codebase conventions. Participate in code reviews, both as a reviewer and reviewee, to foster learning and improvement. Maintain documentation, including property catalogue updates and setup guides. Escalate blockers early and clearly to ensure smooth project progression.
A minimum of 3 years of software engineering experience is required, with meaningful exposure to Android or embedded systems. Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin is essential for writing clear, working code and unit tests independently. Working knowledge of C++ fundamentals, including syntax, classes, pointers/references, and STL basics, is needed to read and modify existing C++ code with support.
Understanding of Android application and service fundamentals, including components, lifecycle, Service, and AIDL at a usage level, along with permissions, is necessary. Basic Linux command-line competence and Git fluency are expected. A demonstrated ability and willingness to learn platform-level concepts quickly is crucial.
