This role centers on building AI-native, HANA-optimized SAP applications and extensions. You will combine deep ABAP on HANA engineering expertise with agentic AI patterns, including LLMs, tools, retrieval, and evaluation. The focus is on creating production-grade solutions that leverage HANA pushdown principles and modern ABAP, incorporating governed AI capabilities for reasoning, context retrieval, and assisting within enterprise SAP workflows, all without the need for training foundation models from scratch.

Design and develop ABAP solutions optimized for SAP HANA, prioritizing performance through pushdown principles and in-database processing. Build efficient data models using CDS views, associations, annotations, and authorization concepts, implementing performance-critical logic with AMDP/SQLScript where appropriate. Develop modular, testable, and maintainable ABAP code following clean architecture practices and enterprise SDLC, creating services and APIs with modern paradigms like OData. Model enterprise business entities using CDS semantics and design reusable data artifacts to support various downstream consumers, ensuring consistent business definitions. Build AI-enabled SAP experiences integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities, including tool calling, retrieval grounding, and deterministic fallbacks. Implement prompts, tool schemas, and context assembly strategies to reduce hallucinations and enforce enterprise safety boundaries. Develop automated tests for ABAP services and data artifacts, establishing evaluation harnesses for AI behaviors and introducing guardrails for AI outputs. Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces for production support, designing robust error handling for enterprise flows. Integrate ABAP on HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, collaborating with cross-functional teams for end-to-end solution correctness.

Demonstrate strong hands-on expertise in ABAP Development on HANA, focusing on performance tuning, pushdown techniques, and efficient SQL access patterns. Exhibit proficiency with CDS views and modern data modeling practices, including associations, annotations, and authorization concepts. Possess experience with AMDP/SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios and controlled code pushdown. Uphold solid software engineering discipline, including clean design, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and a commitment to production readiness. Showcase AI-native build capabilities, such as LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundary implementation. Familiarity with OData/service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development is strongly beneficial. Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is advantageous. Knowledge of SAP security/authorizations and compliance requirements for sensitive enterprise data is also a plus. Requires a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 5 years of professional experience.
