This position focuses on building AI-native, HANA-optimized SAP applications and extensions. You'll combine advanced ABAP on HANA engineering with agentic AI patterns, including LLMs, tools, retrieval, and evaluation. The aim is to deliver robust, production-grade solutions that leverage HANA pushdown principles, contemporary ABAP, and governed AI capabilities, enabling systems to reason, retrieve context, and assist within enterprise SAP workflows without the need for foundational model training.

Design and develop ABAP solutions for SAP HANA, emphasizing performance through pushdown principles and efficient data processing. Build robust data models and access patterns using CDS views, associations, and annotations. Implement performance-critical logic with AMDP/SQLScript where suitable, ensuring thorough governance and testing.

Develop modular, testable, and maintainable ABAP code following clean architecture practices and enterprise SDLC. Construct services and APIs using modern paradigms like OData, ensuring stability and contract-first behavior. Consistently apply secure coding standards and authorization checks.

Model enterprise business entities using CDS semantics for transactional and analytical consumption. Design reusable data artifacts for downstream consumers, ensuring lineage-friendly structures and consistent business definitions.

Create AI-enabled SAP experiences by integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities, including tool calling, retrieval-grounded outputs, and deterministic fallbacks. Implement prompts and safety boundaries to minimize hallucinations and enforce enterprise safety protocols.

Build automated tests for ABAP services and data artifacts to ensure performance and correctness. Establish evaluation frameworks for AI behaviors using datasets and scenario-based tests. Introduce guardrails for AI outputs, including authorization-aware filtering and redaction rules.

Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces for production support. Design robust error handling for enterprise flows with retries and idempotency. Support incident response with runbooks and continuous hardening of solutions.

Integrate ABAP on HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams for end-to-end solution correctness. Rapidly prototype, demonstrate, and evolve solutions into scalable production systems with built-in security and compliance.

This role requires strong hands-on expertise in ABAP Development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown techniques, and efficient SQL access patterns. Proficiency with CDS views and modern data modeling practices such as associations, annotations, and authorization concepts is essential.

Experience with AMDP/SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios and controlled code pushdown is expected. A solid foundation in software engineering principles, including clean design, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and production readiness, is crucial.

Demonstrated capability in building AI-native solutions, encompassing LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and implementing safety boundaries, is a key requirement. Familiarity with OData/service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development is highly beneficial.

Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is advantageous. Knowledge of performance benchmarking, load testing, and query-plan driven tuning practices is also valued. Understanding of SAP security/authorizations and compliance requirements for sensitive enterprise data is important.
