Join our team as a Custom Software Engineer focused on building innovative, AI-native, and data-centric products on SAP BTP Datasphere. This role emphasizes enterprise data warehousing, semantic modeling, and agentic AI architectures for intelligent data experiences like data agents and conversational analytics. You will be instrumental in developing solutions that move beyond traditional dashboards to provide grounded insights derived from governed Datasphere models and integrated enterprise sources.

SAP Datasphere serves as a powerful data warehousing solution with robust integration capabilities, forming the foundation for the advanced analytics and AI applications you will help create.

Design and implement governed data products within SAP Datasphere, leveraging concepts like Spaces and shareable models. Construct semantic models optimized for both analytical and AI consumption, ensuring clear definitions, measures, hierarchies, and lineage.

Develop grounded AI experiences by integrating LLM applications with Datasphere models and enterprise data sources. Engineer retrieval strategies that adhere to domain boundaries, freshness requirements, and access controls for reliable AI outputs.

Facilitate modernization by enabling transition paths from legacy warehouse investments using approaches like SAP BW bridge patterns. Implement layered architecture patterns (e.g., Bronze/Silver/Gold) for data ingestion, cleansing, and publishing analytics-ready models, embedding quality controls throughout the lifecycle.

Build data agents capable of planning, tool execution, context retrieval, and generating cited answers. Implement prompt templates, tool schemas, and safe action boundaries for enterprise-grade AI usage. Establish evaluation loops and telemetry for AI interactions to enhance reliability and cost efficiency.

Collaborate closely with business, data governance, and platform teams to align data products with operational workflows and drive reusable patterns for efficient delivery.

Possess strong expertise in SAP BTP Datasphere, including data modeling, spaces, sharing patterns, and enterprise semantic design. Demonstrate a solid understanding of data warehousing fundamentals and the ability to translate business domains into governed analytical models.

Gain hands-on experience building with LLMs and RAG, encompassing retrieval, grounding, prompt/tool design, and evaluation techniques. Exhibit solid software engineering fundamentals, including a commitment to testability, a CI/CD mindset, and the ability to develop reliable integrations.

Prior experience with migration and modernization leveraging BW bridge style transition patterns is strongly beneficial. Familiarity with layered architecture implementation (Bronze/Silver/Gold) for scalable analytics delivery is also advantageous.

This role does not focus on training foundation models from scratch but rather on building agentic applications and governed retrieval on enterprise data. You will own the AI behavior, including grounding, evaluation, and safety, end-to-end.
