As a Custom Software Engineer, you will craft innovative software solutions, transforming ideas into code and enhancing components across diverse systems. Leveraging modern frameworks and agile methodologies, you'll deliver scalable, high-performance applications designed to meet specific business requirements.

This role focuses on building AI-native, cloud-ready SAP solutions. You will merge deep ABAP and SAP platform expertise with advanced AI architectures, large language model (LLM) tooling, and rapid experimentation. The core objective is to design, implement, and scale intelligent SAP applications that seamlessly integrate ABAP Cloud with LLMs, retrieval pipelines, APIs, and enterprise systems, driving towards autonomous operations.

Design and implement ABAP Cloud applications that embed LLM-driven intelligence into SAP business processes. Develop AI-enabled SAP extensions using the RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), event-driven patterns, and cloud-native architectures. Write clean, testable ABAP code that integrates effectively with AI services and enterprise APIs. Implement agentic workflows, including tools, planners, memory, orchestration, and evaluation loops, integrated with SAP processes. Integrate LLMs, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines with ABAP Cloud services for contextually relevant responses. Design prompt templates, grounding strategies, fallback logic, and safety boundaries for enterprise SAP use cases. Build and integrate retrieval pipelines using both SAP and non-SAP data sources, ensuring factuality, traceability, and explainability. Implement evaluation frameworks and design guardrails for authorization, data privacy, and error handling. Prototype solutions quickly, demo frequently, and iterate based on business feedback, scaling prototypes into enterprise-grade production systems.

A strong foundation in SAP ABAP Cloud, including RAP, CDS, OData, and clean core principles, is essential. Demonstrated hands-on experience integrating LLMs and AI services into applications. Proven experience building RAG pipelines, working with embeddings, and implementing contextual retrieval mechanisms. A solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, encompassing design, testing, and CI/CD practices. The ability to translate complex business problems into effective AI-enabled SAP solutions.

Additional qualifications that are strongly beneficial include experience with SAP BTP, eventing, APIs, and cloud services. Familiarity with agent frameworks or custom orchestration logic, as well as exposure to vector databases, search, or semantic indexing, is also advantageous. Knowledge of enterprise security, authorization, and compliance patterns will further strengthen your candidacy.
