As a Custom Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing innovative software solutions, from design and coding to enhancing components across various systems. Leveraging modern frameworks and agile methodologies, you will deliver scalable, high-performing applications tailored to specific business requirements. This role focuses on building AI-native, HANA-optimized SAP applications and extensions, combining deep ABAP on HANA expertise with advanced AI patterns.

You will engineer solutions using HANA pushdown principles, modern ABAP, and governed AI capabilities that can reason, retrieve context, and assist or act within enterprise SAP workflows, without the need for training foundation models from scratch. The goal is to deliver production-grade solutions that are cloud-ready and highly performant.

Design and develop ABAP solutions specifically optimized for SAP HANA, utilizing pushdown principles to minimize data movement and maximize in-database processing.

Construct efficient data models and access patterns using CDS views, associations, annotations, and authorization concepts.

Implement performance-critical logic with AMDP/SQLScript where suitable, adhering to strict governance and testing protocols.

Develop modular, testable, and maintainable ABAP code following clean architecture practices and enterprise SDLC standards.

Build services and APIs using modern paradigms like OData, ensuring stability, versioning, and contract-first behavior.

Model enterprise business entities with CDS semantics to support both transactional and analytical consumption needs.

Create reusable data artifacts for downstream consumers including UI, integrations, analytics, and AI retrieval layers.

Build AI-enabled SAP experiences that integrate ABAP services with LLM capabilities, focusing on tool calling, retrieval grounding, and deterministic fallbacks.

Implement robust automated tests for ABAP services and data artifacts to ensure regression coverage for performance and correctness.

Establish evaluation harnesses for AI behaviors, including offline golden datasets, scenario-based tests, and online monitoring.

Instrument services and critical logic with logs, metrics, and traces for effective production support and root-cause analysis.

Integrate ABAP on HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, employing event-driven patterns, API gateways, and enterprise integration layers.

A minimum of 3 years of experience is required for this role.

A strong command of ABAP Development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown techniques, and efficient SQL access patterns, is essential.

Proficiency in CDS views and modern data modeling practices, encompassing associations, annotations, and authorization concepts, is expected.

Experience with AMDP/SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios and controlled code pushdown is necessary.

Demonstrate solid software engineering discipline, including clean design principles, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and readiness for production environments.

Possess AI native build capabilities, such as LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and establishing safety boundaries.

Familiarity with OData/service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development is highly beneficial.

Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is advantageous.

Knowledge of SAP security and authorizations, along with compliance requirements for sensitive enterprise data, is preferred.

A total of 15 years of full-time education is a mandatory requirement.
