This role focuses on building AI-native enterprise applications on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). You will integrate strong platform engineering skills—covering administration, solution design, and full-stack development—with agentic AI application patterns, including LLMs, tools, retrieval, and evaluation techniques. The position involves building, deploying, and operating cloud applications on SAP BTP, evolving them into intelligent systems through rapid prototyping and robust production hardening.

Engineer cloud applications on SAP BTP, managing their lifecycle from build to deploy, encompassing platform fundamentals, administration, solution design, and full-stack development.

Deliver full-stack solutions using SAP BTP patterns, developing backend services and APIs with Node.js, and exposing them for frontend consumption. Build responsive UIs with SAPUI5 (XML views, controllers, MVC) that integrate seamlessly with backend APIs for data display and write-back operations.

Design and implement data models (tables, views, entities, relationships) and establish connections to SAP HANA-based persistence patterns within BTP development.

Configure BTP subaccounts, service instances, roles, and development spaces. Set up connectivity artifacts for integrating external APIs and databases, and package/deploy applications using Multi-Target Application (MTA) artifacts.

Integrate LLM-powered features into BTP applications, such as workflow assistants, managing tool calling, orchestration, memory handling, and defining safe action boundaries. Develop retrieval-grounded experiences (RAG) over enterprise content and APIs, ensuring clear fallback mechanisms. Implement evaluation loops for measuring AI behavior changes and preventing regressions.

Adhere to engineering excellence standards by using Git-based workflows for source control and collaboration, operating within Agile/Scrum frameworks. Debug and resolve backend, database, and service exposure issues during full-stack delivery.

Possess foundational SAP BTP application development expertise, including platform architecture, basic administration, solution design, and frontend/backend build skills.

Demonstrate hands-on full-stack implementation capabilities, evidenced by experience with backend services, APIs, data models, and UI integration. Strong software engineering fundamentals are essential, including clean code practices, a testing mindset, and CI/CD orientation, with the ability to transition from prototype to production.

Beneficial skills include practical exposure to common BTP application development tooling and patterns used in delivery environments, such as SAP Business Application Studio for full-stack builds. Familiarity with structured learning paths like BTP Application Development and bootcamp-style enablement is advantageous. Awareness of platform building blocks and guidelines found in resources like the SAP BTP Developer's Guide is also valuable.

This role requires a 15-year full-time education. It emphasizes owning AI behavior within the product, including orchestration, grounding, evaluation, and safety boundaries, as part of delivery, rather than solely focusing on AI-assisted development. The primary focus is on building agentic applications integrated with enterprise services, not on training foundation models from scratch.
