The Middleware Specialist in Application Managed Services (AMS) is pivotal for the comprehensive lifecycle management of middleware platforms. This includes ensuring the high availability, optimal performance, and stringent security of integration solutions built on IBM DataPower. The role emphasizes operational excellence, proactive monitoring, and continuous improvement to meet demanding SLAs and business continuity objectives.
As a Custom Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing custom software solutions, coding, and enhancing components across systems. You will leverage modern frameworks and agile practices to deliver scalable, high-performing solutions that precisely meet business needs.
Key responsibilities include providing 24x7 support for DataPower environments within the AMS scope. You will actively monitor system health, performance, and capacity, implementing proactive measures to prevent incidents. Ensuring adherence to ITIL processes like Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management is crucial. Furthermore, you will maintain disaster recovery plans and participate in DR drills. Troubleshooting and resolving middleware issues within defined SLAs, performing root cause analysis, and implementing permanent fixes are core duties. Collaboration with L2/L3 teams for escalations and complex problem resolution is also expected.
To excel in this role, a minimum of 2 years of experience in IBM WebSphere DataPower is essential. A solid background in middleware administration and AMS operations is required, along with a proven history of managing critical production environments with high availability needs. Experience in incident triage, SLA adherence, and effective client communication is also key.
Technical proficiencies include administration of DataPower, covering installation, upgrades, configuration, security, and monitoring. Strong experience with WSP, MPG, SSL/TLS, WS-Security, and certificate management is vital. A good understanding of API Security and DataPower logs analysis is necessary. Skills in development/enhancement using Multi-Protocol Gateway and Web Service Proxy are required. Additionally, proficiency in running MQSC and CP Commands, handling MQ client applications, and managing MQ listeners, channels, topics, queues, and logs is expected. Basic understanding of AIX/Linux is also beneficial. Familiarity with ticketing systems like ServiceNow and monitoring tools such as Splunk is advantageous.
