We are seeking a Custom Software Engineer to design, code, and enhance system components. This role involves using modern frameworks and agile practices to deliver scalable, high-performing solutions tailored to specific business needs.

This position focuses on building AI-native, HANA-optimized SAP applications and extensions. You will leverage deep ABAP on HANA engineering expertise combined with agentic AI patterns. The emphasis is on delivering production-grade solutions using HANA pushdown principles, modern ABAP, and governed AI capabilities that can reason, retrieve context, and assist within enterprise SAP workflows.

Key responsibilities include designing and developing ABAP solutions optimized for SAP HANA, focusing on pushdown principles and efficient data access. You will build modular, testable, and maintainable ABAP code adhering to clean architecture practices and develop services and APIs using modern paradigms like OData.

Additionally, you will model enterprise business entities using CDS semantics, support transactional and analytical consumption, and ensure lineage-friendly structures. A significant part involves building AI-enabled SAP experiences by integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities, including tool calling orchestration and retrieval grounded outputs.

Other duties encompass establishing evaluation harnesses for AI behaviors, implementing automated tests for ABAP services and data artifacts, and ensuring robust error handling and instrumentation for observability and reliability. You will also integrate ABAP on HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems and collaborate with cross-functional teams for end-to-end solution delivery.

A minimum of 3 years of experience is required, with a maximum of 5 years. Essential skills include strong hands-on expertise in ABAP Development on HANA, covering performance tuning and efficient SQL access patterns. Proficiency with CDS views and modern data modeling practices, along with experience in AMDP / SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios, is crucial.

Solid software engineering discipline is expected, encompassing clean design, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and production readiness. Candidates must possess AI native build capabilities, including LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries.

Strongly beneficial skills include OData/service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes. Familiarity with performance benchmarking, load testing, and knowledge of SAP security and authorization requirements are also advantageous.
