As a Custom Software Engineer, you will architect, develop, and refine components across various systems and applications. This role emphasizes the use of modern frameworks and agile methodologies to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions precisely aligned with unique business requirements.

This position is centered on constructing, deploying, and managing cloud applications on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). A key aspect involves integrating agentic AI application patterns, such as Large Language Models (LLMs) and tools, to evolve these applications into intelligent systems through rapid prototyping and robust production hardening.

The primary focus is on building AI-native enterprise applications on SAP BTP, combining strong platform engineering expertise with advanced AI application patterns. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of intelligent enterprise solutions.

Develop and manage cloud applications on SAP BTP, encompassing platform fundamentals, administration, solution design, and full-stack development.

Build backend services and APIs using Node.js, and create responsive user interfaces with SAPUI5, integrating them with backend data.

Design database artifacts and data models, connecting applications to SAP HANA-based persistence patterns.

Configure subaccounts, service instances, roles, and connectivity artifacts for external API integration.

Implement LLM-integrated features within BTP applications, including tool calling, orchestration, memory handling, and safe action boundaries.

Develop retrieval-grounded experiences (RAG) over enterprise content and APIs, ensuring clear fallback behaviors.

Create evaluation loops for AI behavior monitoring and regression detection.

Utilize Git-based workflows and Agile/Scrum methodologies for collaboration and delivery.

Debug and resolve backend, database, and service exposure issues during development.

A strong foundation in SAP BTP application development is essential, covering platform architecture, administration basics, solution design, and full-stack development.

Demonstrated hands-on experience with full-stack implementation patterns, including backend services, APIs, data models, and UI integration.

Solid software engineering fundamentals are required, emphasizing clean code, a testing mindset, and CI/CD orientation, with the ability to transition from prototype to production.

Practical exposure to common BTP application development tools and patterns used in delivery environments, such as SAP Business Application Studio, is highly beneficial.

Familiarity with structured learning paths like BTP Application Development and bootcamp-style enablement is advantageous.

Awareness of platform building blocks and guidelines, as referenced in community materials like the SAP BTP Developer's Guide, is also valuable.

This role requires a minimum of 3 years of experience. A 15-year full-time education is mandatory.
