We are seeking a technically proficient and delivery-oriented Android Application Development Lead. This role will spearhead the design and development of cutting-edge infotainment applications utilizing Android Automotive OS (AAOS).
Key responsibilities include full-stack architecture, seamless HAL integration, and collaborative system-level efforts to deliver high-performance, automotive-grade user experiences. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in Android development, with specialized expertise in AAOS, embedded systems, and automotive infotainment platforms.
Lead the design and implementation of infotainment applications on AAOS, emphasizing modularity, performance, and maintainability. Architect comprehensive full-stack solutions for core features like media, navigation, user profiles, and distributed playback. Develop crucial modules for interacting with VHAL and other HALs through AIDL/HIDL. Integrate applications with essential system services and vendor-specific frameworks. Effectively debug and optimize across application, framework, and HAL layers to ensure system stability and peak performance. Collaborate closely with platform, hardware, and QA teams for integrated development and validation. Provide mentorship to junior developers, promoting best practices in architecture, code quality, and testing. Create and present detailed architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and implementation plans to stakeholders.
Minimum 4 years of experience in Android application development, with a preference for automotive or embedded domains. Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, and C++ (14/17) is essential. Deep understanding of Android SDK, NDK, Jetpack libraries, and the MVVM architectural pattern. Demonstrated experience with core Android components such as Activities, Services, Broadcast Receivers, and Content Providers. Practical experience with AIDL/HIDL, VHAL, and managing communication between HAL and applications. Familiarity with AAOS car services and the intricacies of infotainment integration. Experience with application-level functionalities for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and CAN. Exposure to media, phone, navigation applications, and cloud communication protocols. Understanding of partitioning concepts and cross-partition communication. Proficiency in unit testing, instrumentation testing, and utilizing mocking frameworks. Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD workflows, and debugging tools like adb, logcat, Perfetto, and Systrace. Knowledge of ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and ASPICE. Familiarity with ISO/SAE 21434 (Cybersecurity) and cybersecurity practices including TARA and secure communication. Minimum 4 years of experience in Infotainment & Telematics is required. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Electronics, or Electrical) is mandatory. This role is based in our Bengaluru office.
