Join us as a Custom Software Engineer to build AI-native, HANA-optimized SAP applications. This role focuses on creating high-performance, cloud-ready solutions by integrating deep ABAP on HANA engineering with agentic AI patterns. You will leverage HANA pushdown principles, modern ABAP, and governed AI capabilities to deliver solutions that can reason, retrieve context, and act within enterprise SAP workflows.

This position is ideal for engineers passionate about combining cutting-edge AI with robust SAP development. You will be instrumental in developing intelligent SAP experiences without the need for training foundational models from scratch, ensuring solutions are both powerful and safe.

Design and develop ABAP solutions optimized for SAP HANA, utilizing pushdown principles for maximum efficiency. Build robust data models and access patterns with CDS views, associations, and annotations. Implement performance-critical logic using AMDP/SQLScript under careful governance. Develop modular, testable, and maintainable ABAP code adhering to clean architecture practices. Construct services and APIs using modern paradigms like OData, ensuring stability and contract-first behavior. Model enterprise business entities with CDS semantics for both transactional and analytical use cases. Develop AI-enabled SAP experiences by integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities, including tool calling and retrieval grounding. Implement automated tests for ABAP services and data artifacts to ensure regression coverage. Establish evaluation harnesses for AI behaviors, including automated testing and online monitoring. Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces for effective production support and root-cause analysis. Integrate ABAP on HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, embracing event-driven patterns and API gateways. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end solution correctness and performance.

A strong foundation in ABAP Development on HANA, with expertise in performance tuning and efficient SQL access patterns, is essential. Proficiency with CDS views and modern data modeling practices, including associations, annotations, and authorization concepts, is required. Experience utilizing AMDP/SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios and controlled code pushdown is necessary. Demonstrate solid software engineering discipline, including clean design principles, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and a focus on production readiness. Proven ability in AI-native development, encompassing LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and implementing safety boundaries. A minimum of 3 years of experience in relevant development is required.
