This role emphasizes delivering production-grade applications using HANA pushdown principles, modern ABAP, and governed AI capabilities. You'll develop solutions that can reason, retrieve context, and assist within enterprise SAP workflows, without the need for training foundation models from scratch. Design and develop high-performance ABAP solutions optimized for SAP HANA, utilizing pushdown principles for efficient data processing. Build robust data models and access patterns using CDS views, associations, and annotations, ensuring data integrity and security. Implement modern ABAP code adhering to clean architecture practices, focusing on modularity, testability, and maintainability. Develop and expose services and APIs using modern paradigms like OData, ensuring stability and contract-first behavior. Model enterprise business entities using CDS semantics to support both transactional and analytical needs, ensuring clear business definitions. Construct AI-enabled SAP experiences by integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities, including tool calling, retrieval grounding, and deterministic fallbacks. Implement automated testing strategies to ensure the quality and correctness of ABAP services and data artifacts. Establish evaluation harnesses for AI behaviors and introduce guardrails for AI outputs to enhance safety and reliability. Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces for effective production support and root-cause analysis. Support incident response, continuously hardening solutions based on observed failure patterns. Integrate ABAP on HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, collaborating with cross-functional teams for end-to-end solution delivery.

A strong foundation in ABAP Development on HANA is essential, including expertise in performance tuning, pushdown techniques, and efficient SQL access patterns. Proficiency in developing CDS views and applying modern data modeling practices is required, encompassing associations, annotations, and authorization concepts. Experience with AMDP/SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios and controlled code pushdown is necessary. A solid software engineering discipline, including clean design principles, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and a focus on production readiness, is crucial. Capability in AI native development is a must, covering LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and implementing safety boundaries. Demonstrated experience with OData service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development is highly beneficial. Familiarity with integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is advantageous. Knowledge of performance benchmarking, load testing, and query-plan driven tuning practices is desirable. Understanding of SAP security/authorizations and compliance requirements for sensitive enterprise data is a plus. A 15-year full-time education is a mandatory requirement for this role.
