Join our team as a Custom Software Engineer and play a key role in developing cutting-edge SAP applications and extensions. This position focuses on building AI-native, HANA-optimized solutions by merging deep ABAP on HANA expertise with advanced agentic AI patterns. You will deliver high-performance, production-ready solutions leveraging HANA pushdown principles, modern ABAP, and governed AI capabilities.

The role involves creating solutions that can reason, retrieve context, and assist or act within enterprise SAP workflows. We emphasize building solutions without the need for extensive foundational model training, focusing instead on integrating AI responsibly and effectively into SAP environments.

Design and develop high-performance ABAP solutions on SAP HANA, utilizing pushdown principles for maximum in-database processing. Build efficient data models with CDS views, associations, and annotations, and implement performance-critical logic using AMDP/SQLScript where needed.

Develop modular, testable, and maintainable ABAP code adhering to clean architecture practices and enterprise SDLC standards. Build robust services and APIs using modern paradigms like OData, ensuring stability and contract-first behavior. Apply secure coding standards and authorization checks diligently.

Model enterprise business entities with CDS semantics for both transactional and analytical needs. Design reusable data artifacts that support downstream consumers and ensure lineage-friendly structures with consistent business definitions. Build AI-enabled SAP experiences that integrate ABAP services with LLM capabilities, including tool calling, retrieval grounding over SAP data, and deterministic fallbacks.

Implement prompts, tool schemas, and context assembly strategies to minimize hallucinations and enforce enterprise safety boundaries. Develop automated tests for ABAP services and data artifacts to ensure regression coverage for performance and correctness. Establish evaluation harnesses for AI behaviors and introduce guardrails for AI outputs, including authorization-aware filtering and action confirmations.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in software engineering is required, with a strong emphasis on ABAP Development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown techniques, and efficient SQL access patterns.

Proficiency with CDS views and modern data modeling practices is essential. Experience with AMDP/SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios and controlled code pushdown is expected. A solid understanding of software engineering principles, including clean design, testing, CI/CD orientation, and production readiness, is crucial.

Candidates should possess AI native build capabilities, including LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundary implementation. Secondary skills such as OData/service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and familiarity with performance benchmarking are strongly beneficial.
