This role focuses on developing cutting-edge, AI-native SAP applications optimized for HANA. You will leverage deep ABAP on HANA expertise and advanced AI patterns, including LLMs, tools, and retrieval mechanisms, to deliver high-performance, cloud-ready solutions. The emphasis is on utilizing HANA pushdown principles, modern ABAP, and governed AI capabilities for enterprise workflows, all without the need for training foundational models from scratch.

Key responsibilities include designing and developing ABAP solutions optimized for SAP HANA through pushdown principles. You'll build efficient data models using CDS views, implement performance-critical logic with AMDP/SQLScript, and adhere to clean architecture practices for modular, testable code. Responsibilities also extend to building AI-enabled SAP experiences by integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities, managing tool calling orchestration, and implementing retrieval-grounded outputs. Ensuring quality through automated testing, establishing evaluation loops for AI behaviors, and introducing guardrails for AI outputs are crucial. Additionally, you will focus on observability, reliability, integration with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, and end-to-end solution delivery.

The ideal candidate possesses strong hands-on expertise in ABAP Development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown techniques, and efficient SQL access patterns. Proficiency with CDS views and modern data modeling practices is essential, as is experience with AMDP/SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios. A solid software engineering discipline, encompassing clean design, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and production readiness, is required. The role also demands AI-native build capabilities, such as LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and the establishment of safety boundaries.

Highly beneficial skills include experience with OData/service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development. Familiarity with integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is advantageous. Experience in performance benchmarking, load testing, and query-plan driven tuning practices is also strongly beneficial, as is knowledge of SAP security/authorizations and compliance requirements for sensitive enterprise data.
