Job description

This role focuses on driving the design and development of advanced infotainment applications leveraging Android Automotive OS (AAOS). It encompasses full-stack architecture, seamless HAL integration, and critical system-level collaboration to craft high-performance, automotive-grade user experiences. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Android development, with a deep specialization in AAOS, embedded systems, and sophisticated infotainment platforms.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of infotainment applications within the AAOS framework, prioritizing modularity, optimal performance, and ease of maintenance. Architect comprehensive full-stack solutions for various features, including media playback, navigation, user profile management, and distributed playback functionalities. Develop essential modules for VHAL and other HAL interactions using AIDL/HIDL, ensuring robust communication. Integrate applications effectively with core system services and vendor-specific frameworks. Address and resolve complex issues across application, framework, and HAL layers to guarantee system stability and peak performance. Collaborate closely with platform, hardware, and QA teams to ensure seamless integration and rigorous validation. Provide mentorship to junior developers, reinforcing best practices in architectural design, code quality, and comprehensive testing. Produce clear architecture diagrams, detailed technical specifications, and implementation documentation for stakeholder review. Oversee Android infotainment application development, ensuring high performance, adherence to standards, and smooth integration across diverse automotive platforms.

Qualifications

A minimum of 4 years of dedicated Android application development experience is required, with a strong preference for backgrounds in automotive or embedded systems. Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, and C++ (versions 14/17) is essential. A thorough understanding of the Android SDK, NDK, Jetpack libraries, and the MVVM architecture pattern is expected. Hands-on experience with core Android components, including Activities, Services, Broadcast Receivers, and Content Providers, is necessary. Practical experience with AIDL/HIDL, VHAL, and the intricacies of HAL-to-app communication is a key requirement. Familiarity with AAOS car services and the nuances of infotainment integration is beneficial. Experience with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and CAN bus at the application level is advantageous. Exposure to media, phone, navigation applications, and cloud communication concepts is desirable. Knowledge of partitioning concepts and cross-partition communication is valued. Proficiency in unit testing, instrumentation testing, and the use of mocking frameworks is expected. Practical experience with Git, CI/CD workflows, and debugging tools such as adb, logcat, Perfetto, and Systrace is crucial. Understanding of ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and ASPICE standards is required. Knowledge of ISO/SAE 21434 (Cybersecurity) and cybersecurity practices, including TARA and secure communication methods, is necessary. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
