Job description

Join our team as a Custom Software Engineer, where you'll be instrumental in developing tailored software solutions. This role involves designing, coding, and enhancing components across various systems and applications using modern frameworks and agile methodologies. You will contribute to scalable, high-performing solutions designed to meet specific business requirements, with a focus on Automotive Digital Cockpit Solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career engineer to contribute to critical automotive systems like VHAL and Car Framework. Under the guidance of senior engineers, you will handle well-scoped implementation tasks, testing, tooling, and defect resolution, while rapidly expanding your expertise in AOSP and automotive concepts.

Responsibilities

Implement well-defined changes, such as adding properties, extending signal mappings, or creating new callback functions. Write and maintain comprehensive unit tests for existing and new code to enhance module coverage. Develop and support development and testing tools, including property injection scripts, log parsers, and signal simulators. Assist with build, flash, and bring-up activities on development boards and target head units. Reproduce reported defects, collect necessary logs and traces, and resolve straightforward issues with appropriate guidance. Actively engage in learning the AOSP build workflow, Car Framework property model, and team coding standards. Participate in code reviews, both as a reviewer to learn and as a reviewee to foster improvement. Maintain essential documentation, including property catalogue updates and troubleshooting guides. Escalate any blockers or challenges promptly and clearly.

Qualifications

A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in software engineering is required, specifically within Automotive Digital Cockpit Solutions. Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin is essential for writing clear, functional code and unit tests independently. Solid C++ fundamentals, including syntax, classes, pointers/references, and basic STL, are needed to read and modify existing C++ code with support. A foundational understanding of Android application and service concepts, such as components, lifecycle, Services, AIDL, and permissions, is also necessary. Basic competence with Linux command-line operations and fluency in Git are expected. A demonstrated ability and willingness to quickly grasp platform-level concepts is crucial.

Valued additional skills include prior AOSP exposure (e.g., building images, developing system apps, or working with custom ROMs), awareness of automotive concepts like CAN bus and ECU, and experience with the Android Automotive emulator or AAOS app development. Scripting skills in Python or Bash are also beneficial.
