Develop advanced, AI-native SAP applications and extensions. This role combines deep ABAP on HANA engineering with agentic AI patterns to create high-performance, cloud-ready solutions.

Focus on delivering production-grade systems that leverage HANA pushdown principles, modern ABAP, and governed AI capabilities. The aim is to build solutions that can reason, retrieve context, and assist within enterprise SAP workflows without extensive foundation model training.

The role emphasizes building AI-enabled experiences by integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities, including tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and deterministic fallbacks. Ensure consistent business definitions and lineage-friendly structures across systems for clarity and reduced ambiguity.

Design and develop ABAP solutions optimized for SAP HANA, utilizing pushdown principles for maximum in-database processing. Build efficient data models with CDS views, associations, annotations, and authorization concepts. Implement performance-critical logic using AMDP/SQLScript with careful governance.

Develop modular, testable, and maintainable ABAP code adhering to clean architecture and enterprise SDLC. Build stable services and APIs using modern paradigms like OData, ensuring versioning and contract-first behavior. Apply secure coding standards and authorization checks rigorously.

Model enterprise business entities with CDS semantics for transactional and analytical consumption. Design reusable data artifacts supporting downstream consumers. Build AI-enabled SAP experiences integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities, focusing on tool calling, RAG, and deterministic fallbacks. Implement prompts, tool schemas, and context assembly strategies for safety and accuracy.

Build automated tests for ABAP services and data artifacts. Establish evaluation harnesses for AI behaviors using golden datasets, scenario-based tests, and online monitoring. Introduce guardrails for AI outputs including context filtering, redaction rules, action confirmations, and audit logs.

Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces for production support. Design robust error handling for enterprise flows, including retries, idempotency, and correlation IDs. Support incident response with runbooks and diagnostics, hardening solutions based on failure patterns.

Integrate ABAP on HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems. Collaborate with UX, integration, data, and platform teams for end-to-end solution correctness. Prototype rapidly and evolve them into scalable, production-ready systems.

Requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in SAP ABAP Development for HANA, with a strong focus on performance tuning, pushdown techniques, and efficient SQL access patterns. Proficiency in CDS views, modern data modeling practices, and experience with AMDP/SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios are essential.

Solid software engineering discipline is expected, including clean design principles, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and a focus on production readiness. Must possess AI native build capabilities, including LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and establishing safety boundaries.

Beneficial skills include experience with OData/service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development. Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is also advantageous, as is familiarity with performance benchmarking, load testing, and SAP security/authorization requirements.
