As a Custom Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, coding, and enhancing software components across various systems and applications. Leveraging modern frameworks and agile methodologies, your focus will be on delivering scalable, high-performance solutions tailored to unique business requirements. This role involves using AI-assisted development tools to streamline the entire development lifecycle, from initial analysis to final issue resolution.

This position specifically focuses on customizing SAP Production Planning (PP) processes within discrete manufacturing environments. You will utilize AI copilots and similar tools to accelerate tasks such as requirement analysis, configuration, testing, and documentation. The goal is to ensure efficient production planning, shop floor execution, and material staging, with opportunities to integrate pre-built AI services where beneficial. No deep AI model engineering or vector database work is anticipated for this role.

Configure and support core SAP PP processes, including Material Requirement Planning (MRP), Production Orders & Execution, Routings, Work Centers & BOM Management, Capacity Planning & Scheduling, Backflushing & Costing Integration, and Goods Movements & Shop floor Reporting.

Utilize AI copilots to expedite the creation of functional specifications, validate routings/BOMs, generate test cases for key processes, and automate documentation like FS/TS/SOPs.

Contribute to the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through configuration, SIT/UAT, deployment, and hypercare support. Ensure seamless integration of SAP PP with MM, QM, SD, FI/CO, and shop floor systems (MES) via standard APIs and middleware.

Leverage AI tools for automated summarization of requirements and change impacts, analysis of MRP exceptions and planning alerts, validation of order execution, and faster defect isolation. Integrate pre-built AI services like predictive insights for material shortages or order delays, intelligent classification of production issues, and automated summarization of production batch deviations.

Ensure adherence to production governance, change controls, data accuracy standards, and audit policies. Participate actively in workshops and solution reviews, benefiting from AI-generated insights. Collaborate effectively with production, quality, warehouse, procurement, and controlling teams to achieve end-to-end planning excellence. Develop reusable templates and AI-enabled best practices for SAP PP delivery.

A strong foundation in SAP PP is essential, with a deep understanding of discrete manufacturing processes. This includes expertise in BOM/routing management, production order cycles, capacity planning, scheduling, and MRP. Experience integrating SAP PP with MM, QM, SD, and FI/CO modules, as well as familiarity with order confirmations, settlements, and shop floor data capture processes, is crucial.

Candidates should be comfortable using AI copilots, automated documentation tools, and AI-assisted test accelerators. While embedding pre-built AI capabilities into production planning workflows is expected, custom model building is not required. An awareness of responsible AI usage and its limitations within manufacturing and planning environments is also important.
