This role is for a Custom Software Engineer focused on building AI-native, cloud-ready SAP solutions using ABAP Cloud. It involves combining deep ABAP and SAP platform expertise with agentic AI architectures and LLM tooling. The primary goal is to design, implement, and scale intelligent SAP applications that integrate ABAP Cloud with LLMs, retrieval pipelines, and enterprise systems.

You will be actively building AI systems, not just utilizing AI tools. This is an opportunity to move from automation to autonomy by creating sophisticated SAP applications.

The position emphasizes rapid experimentation and scaling AI prototypes into enterprise-grade production systems, ensuring performance, security, and compliance. The focus is on delivering intelligent SAP applications that can reason, retrieve, and act, accelerating innovation cycles by embedding AI directly into SAP business logic.

Design and build ABAP Cloud applications that embed LLM-driven intelligence into SAP business processes. Implement AI-enabled SAP extensions using modern frameworks like RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), event-driven patterns, and cloud-native architectures. Develop clean, testable ABAP code that seamlessly integrates with AI services and enterprise APIs. Implement agentic workflows, including tools, planners, memory, orchestration, and evaluation loops, integrated within SAP processes. Integrate LLMs, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines with ABAP Cloud services for contextual responses. Design prompt templates, grounding strategies, fallback logic, and safety boundaries for enterprise SAP use cases. Build and integrate retrieval pipelines using SAP and non-SAP data sources, supporting production-grade RAG scenarios. Ensure factuality, traceability, and explainability in AI-driven SAP workflows. Implement evaluation frameworks for AI behaviors and design guardrails for authorization, data privacy, and error handling. Build observability into AI-enabled applications through telemetry, logging, and failure analysis. Prototype quickly, demo frequently, and iterate based on business feedback. Scale AI prototypes into enterprise-grade SAP production systems, prioritizing performance, security, and compliance.

A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.

Must have skills include SAP ABAP Cloud (RAP, CDS, OData, clean core principles), hands-on experience integrating LLMs and AI services into applications, and experience building RAG pipelines, embeddings, and contextual retrieval.

Strong software engineering fundamentals are essential, encompassing design, testing, and CI/CD practices. The ability to translate business problems into AI-enabled SAP solutions is crucial.

Additional beneficial skills include experience with SAP BTP, eventing, APIs, and cloud services. Familiarity with agent frameworks or custom orchestration logic, exposure to vector databases or semantic indexing, and knowledge of enterprise security, authorization, and compliance patterns are strongly advantageous.
