Spearhead the development of cutting-edge, AI-native SAP applications and extensions. This role involves leveraging deep ABAP on HANA expertise alongside agentic AI patterns, including LLMs, tools, and retrieval mechanisms. The focus is on delivering highly performant, cloud-ready, production-grade solutions that utilize HANA pushdown principles and modern ABAP development. You will implement governed AI capabilities for reasoning, context retrieval, and action execution within enterprise SAP workflows, without the need for training foundational models from scratch.

Design and develop high-performance ABAP solutions for SAP HANA, emphasizing pushdown principles to minimize data movement. Build efficient data models using CDS views, associations, and annotations, implementing critical logic with AMDP/SQLScript where needed. Develop modular, testable, and maintainable ABAP code adhering to clean architecture. Create robust services and APIs using modern paradigms like OData, ensuring stability and contract-first behavior. Model enterprise business entities using CDS semantics for transactional and analytical consumption. Integrate ABAP services with LLM capabilities, managing tool calling, retrieval-grounded outputs, and deterministic fallbacks. Build automated tests for ABAP services and data artifacts, establishing evaluation harnesses for AI behaviors and implementing guardrails for AI outputs. Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces for production support, design robust error handling, and integrate ABAP services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems.

A minimum of 3 years of experience is required. Strong hands-on expertise in ABAP Development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown techniques, and efficient SQL access patterns. Proficiency with CDS views and modern data modeling practices (associations, annotations, authorization concepts). Experience with AMDP/SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios and controlled code pushdown. Solid software engineering discipline, including clean design, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and production readiness. Experience in building AI-native capabilities, such as LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries. Familiarity with OData/service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development is strongly beneficial. Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is also advantageous.
