Join our team as a Custom Software Engineer focused on developing cutting-edge, AI-native SAP applications. This role emphasizes building HANA-optimized solutions by integrating deep ABAP on HANA expertise with advanced agentic AI patterns, including LLMs, tools, retrieval, and evaluation.

We are seeking professionals to deliver high-performance, cloud-ready, production-grade applications. Your work will leverage HANA pushdown principles and modern ABAP to create governed AI capabilities that can intelligently assist within enterprise SAP workflows, all without the need for training foundation models from scratch.

Design and develop ABAP solutions optimized for SAP HANA, focusing on pushdown principles for efficient data processing. Build robust data models using CDS views and implement performance-critical logic with AMDP/SQLScript. Develop modular, testable, and maintainable ABAP code following clean architecture practices. Create AI-enabled SAP experiences by integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities, focusing on tool calling, retrieval grounding, and deterministic fallbacks.

Establish automated testing for ABAP services and AI behaviors, including evaluation harnesses and guardrails for AI outputs. Instrument services for observability and reliability, ensuring robust error handling for enterprise flows. Integrate ABAP on HANA services with various SAP and non-SAP ecosystems and collaborate with cross-functional teams for end-to-end solution delivery.

A strong foundation in ABAP Development on HANA, including performance tuning and efficient SQL access patterns, is essential. Proficiency with CDS views, modern data modeling, and experience with AMDP/SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios are required.

Solid software engineering discipline, including clean design, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and production readiness, is crucial. Candidates must possess AI-native build capabilities, encompassing LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundary implementation.

Additional beneficial skills include OData/service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes. Familiarity with performance benchmarking and SAP security/authorization concepts is also advantageous. A minimum of 3 years of experience is required for this role.
