As a Custom Software Engineer specializing in SAP ABAP Development for HANA, you will design, code, and enhance system components, leveraging modern frameworks and agile practices. This role focuses on building scalable, high-performance solutions tailored to specific business needs, with an emphasis on AI-native, HANA-optimized SAP applications.

You will combine deep ABAP on HANA engineering expertise with agentic AI patterns, including LLMs, tools, retrieval, and evaluation. The objective is to deliver production-grade solutions using HANA pushdown principles, modern ABAP, and governed AI capabilities that can reason and act within enterprise SAP workflows.

Develop ABAP solutions optimized for SAP HANA using pushdown principles and build efficient data models with CDS views, associations, and annotations. Implement performance-critical logic using AMDP/SQLScript and develop modular, testable ABAP code aligned with clean architecture practices. Build services and APIs using modern paradigms like OData, ensuring stability and contract-first behavior, and apply secure coding standards. Model enterprise business entities using CDS semantics for transactional and analytical consumption, and design reusable data artifacts. Build AI-enabled SAP experiences by integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities, including tool calling and retrieval-grounded outputs. Develop automated tests for ABAP services and data artifacts, and establish evaluation harnesses for AI behaviors. Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces for production support and design robust error handling for enterprise flows. Integrate ABAP on HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems and collaborate with cross-functional teams for end-to-end solution correctness.

A minimum of 3 years of experience is required, with a focus on Packaged Application Development. Strong hands-on expertise in ABAP Development on HANA, including performance tuning and pushdown techniques. Proficiency with CDS views, modern data modeling practices, and experience with AMDP/SQLScript. A solid software engineering discipline, including clean design, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and production readiness. Capability in AI native builds, encompassing LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries. Experience with OData/service design patterns and API lifecycle management is strongly beneficial. Familiarity with performance benchmarking, load testing, and SAP security/authorizations is also advantageous.
