Join us as a Custom Software Engineer to craft innovative AI-native enterprise applications on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). This role blends strong platform engineering with cutting-edge agentic AI application patterns, including LLMs and retrieval mechanisms. You will be instrumental in building, deploying, and optimizing cloud applications, transforming them into intelligent systems through rapid prototyping and robust production hardening.

Design, code, and enhance components across systems, developing custom software solutions tailored to specific business needs. Build, deploy, and manage cloud applications on SAP BTP, encompassing platform fundamentals, administration, solution design, and full-stack development. Develop backend services and APIs using Node.js, and create responsive UIs with SAPUI5. Design data artifacts and models, integrating applications with SAP HANA persistence. Configure subaccounts, service instances, and connectivity for seamless integration. Package and deploy applications using MTA artifacts. Implement LLM-integrated features, including tool calling, orchestration, memory handling, and safety boundaries. Build retrieval-grounded experiences over enterprise content and APIs, incorporating clear fallback behaviors. Create evaluation loops to monitor and measure AI behavior changes. Utilize Git-based workflows and operate within Agile/Scrum methodologies. Debug and resolve backend, database, and service exposure issues.

A solid foundation in SAP BTP application development is essential, covering platform architecture, administration basics, solution design, and both frontend and backend development. You should possess hands-on full-stack implementation experience, evidenced by developing backend services, APIs, data models, and UI integrations. Strong software engineering fundamentals, including clean code principles, a testing mindset, and CI/CD orientation, are crucial. The ability to transition from prototype to production is a key expectation for building AI-native solutions. Practical experience with common BTP application development tooling and patterns, such as SAP Business Application Studio in full-stack contexts, is highly beneficial. Familiarity with structured learning paths and bootcamp-style enablement related to BTP application development is advantageous. An awareness of platform building blocks and guidelines found in community materials, like the SAP BTP Developer's Guide, is also recommended. This role requires a minimum of 2-5 years of experience and 15 years of full-time education.
