We are looking for a technically adept and delivery-focused Android Application Development Lead. This individual will drive the design and development of cutting-edge infotainment applications utilizing Android Automotive OS (AAOS). The role encompasses full-stack architecture, HAL integration, and essential system-level collaboration to deliver high-performance, automotive-grade user experiences. Candidates should have extensive experience in Android development, with a deep specialization in AAOS, embedded systems, and infotainment platforms.
Develop and configure software systems to meet project requirements, whether for the entire product lifecycle or specific phases. Apply a comprehensive knowledge of technologies, applications, methodologies, processes, and tools to effectively support client needs and project objectives. Lead the design and development of sophisticated infotainment applications built on the Android Automotive OS (AAOS) platform, prioritizing modularity, optimal performance, and ease of maintenance. Architect robust full-stack solutions for critical features such as media playback, navigation, user profile management, and distributed playback functionalities. Develop specialized modules designed for seamless interaction with the Vehicle Hardware Abstraction Layer (VHAL) and other HALs, leveraging AIDL/HIDL for communication. Integrate applications effectively with core system services and vendor-specific frameworks to ensure smooth operation. Proactively identify and resolve issues across application, framework, and HAL layers to guarantee system stability and peak performance. Collaborate closely with platform, hardware, and quality assurance teams to achieve seamless integration and rigorous validation of developed features. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, championing best practices in architectural design, code quality, and thorough testing methodologies. Create and present detailed architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and implementation blueprints to key stakeholders. Oversee the entire lifecycle of Android infotainment application development, ensuring adherence to high performance standards, compliance requirements, and seamless integration across diverse automotive platforms.
A minimum of 2-5 years of professional experience is required for this role. Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computers, Electronics, or a related field. A minimum of 6 years of dedicated experience in Android application development is essential, with a preference for experience within automotive or embedded domains. Demonstrate strong proficiency in programming languages including Java, Kotlin, and C++ (versions 14/17). Possess a deep and thorough understanding of the Android SDK, NDK, Jetpack libraries, and the MVVM architecture pattern. Exhibit hands-on experience with core Android components such as Activities, Services, Broadcast Receivers, and Content Providers. Show practical experience in implementing AIDL/HIDL, interacting with VHAL, and managing HAL-to-app communication. Familiarity with Android Automotive OS (AAOS) car services and the intricacies of infotainment integration is crucial. Have practical experience with Bluetooth (BT), Wi-Fi, GPS, and CAN bus functionalities at the application level. Exposure to developing and integrating media, phone, and navigation applications, as well as cloud communication services. Experience with partitioning concepts and managing cross-partition communication. Proficiency in various testing methodologies including unit testing, instrumentation testing, and the use of mocking frameworks. Demonstrate hands-on experience with version control systems like Git, CI/CD workflows, and essential debugging tools such as adb, logcat, Perfetto, and Systrace. Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and ASPICE is beneficial. Knowledge of ISO/SAE 21434 (Cybersecurity) is advantageous. Understanding of cybersecurity practices, including Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA) and secure communication protocols.
