In this role, you will take technical ownership of the TEM (Transport Emission Measurement) application and its new feature deliveries. You will also play a leading role within the TEM engineering team, driving development and operation of both the application and its data product. Close collaboration with product management and business analysts is key to success.
Develop and operate the TEM application and its Data Product, ensuring high quality and performance. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining the application's infrastructure on a provided cloud platform, such as AWS. Ensuring code quality and comprehensive test coverage, including automation, will be a critical part of your responsibilities.
Take technical ownership for the TEM (Transport Emission Measurement) application and the delivery of its new features. Play a leading role within the TEM engineering team, guiding development efforts. Develop and operate the TEM application and its associated Data Product. Collaborate closely with product management and business analysts to align on project goals. Develop and operate infrastructure on the provided cloud platform, such as AWS. Ensure the quality of delivered code and end-to-end data processing pipelines. Contribute to test automation and enhancing overall test coverage.
Demonstrated experience with Java (versions 11+, preferably 21) and the Spring framework, alongside Maven build tooling and Docker packaging. Proficiency in Kafka (producers/consumers), Confluent Schema Registry, and Kafka Connect. Experience with Python scripting for automation, Lambda helpers, and data tooling (Python 3.11 preferred). Hands-on experience with Terraform (v1.4.x compatible) and various AWS services including ECS/ECR, Lambda, SQS, SecretsManager, Aurora, ElastiCache, Route53, KMS, cross-account roles, and EKS. Strong SQL skills, particularly with Snowflake, including complex queries, window functions, performance tuning, and data modelling. Practical experience with Flyway or similar database migration tools and SQL CI/CD pipelines via GitLab CI. Familiarity with CI/CD and container workflows (GitLab CI, Docker) and secrets handling using SOPS/CodeArtifact. Experience with observability concepts: structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and troubleshooting in distributed systems. Comfort operating across data, backend, and infrastructure domains, with a pragmatic and security-aware approach. Strong collaboration and documentation skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into data and service contracts. A test-driven mindset for both code and data, including writing reproducible validation queries and automation. High focus on exact implementation and quality assurance for data-centric applications. A minimum of 5 years of experience across combinations of data engineering, backend development, and cloud platform work, or equivalent breadth.
