Seeking a skilled Custom Software Engineer to design, code, and enhance system components. This role leverages modern frameworks and agile practices to deliver scalable, high-performing solutions tailored to specific business needs.

The opportunity is part of our Global Database Services team, focusing on the design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of enterprise database platforms. You will be instrumental in ensuring the availability, security, scalability, and performance of mission-critical database environments that support global business and logistics operations.

This position blends hands-on database administration with strategic engineering initiatives. You will contribute to platform modernization, cloud adoption, automation, database standardization, and the advancement of our Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platform. As a key database subject matter expert, you will collaborate with application and infrastructure teams, architects, and stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable database services, driving operational excellence and innovation.

Design and implement enterprise database environments aligned with business requirements and standards, ensuring high availability, scalability, performance, and security.

Administer and support enterprise databases across development, test, and production environments, monitoring health and proactively resolving issues.

Optimize database performance and resource utilization, conduct capacity planning, and identify/resolve performance bottlenecks.

Develop and maintain robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies, including high-availability solutions.

Implement and maintain database security standards, controls, and best practices, managing access and ensuring compliance.

Drive automation initiatives using scripting languages and configuration management tools to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.

Provide technical leadership and guidance on database architecture, design, performance, and best practices to development teams and stakeholders.

Develop and maintain operational procedures, technical documentation, and standards, promoting knowledge sharing and mentoring team members.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in custom software engineering and database administration within enterprise environments is required.

Proficiency in Oracle Applications DBA is a mandatory requirement. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server is considered a plus.

Demonstrated experience in database design, implementation, administration, and performance optimization, supporting business-critical applications and highly available platforms.

Familiarity with Linux/Unix Administration and scripting languages such as Python or Shell/Bash is essential. Experience with automation tools like Ansible is beneficial.
