Join our team as a Custom Software Engineer and contribute to developing innovative software solutions. This role involves designing, coding, and enhancing system components using modern frameworks and agile methodologies to deliver scalable, high-performance applications tailored to specific business needs. You will work on VHAL and Car Framework, building well-defined features and resolving defects with minimal supervision, while also contributing to design input and aiming for independent component ownership.
Implement new vehicle properties, including property configuration, handler implementation, and change-notification wiring. Develop and maintain Android services and app-facing components in Java/Kotlin, consuming VHAL properties. Extend VHAL and property-injection tooling for feature testing without target hardware. Create supporting tools like property dump utilities, signal simulators, and config generators. Debug across the entire stack using tools like logcat, dumpsys, and systrace. Write unit tests (GTest, JUnit) and contribute to VTS/instrumentation tests. Address and fix assigned defects with clear root-cause analyses. Participate in design and code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback. Manage SELinux policy changes for implemented features. Maintain current documentation for property catalogues, integration notes, and known limitations.
Requires 5+ years of total experience, with at least 2 years in Android platform, system apps, embedded Android, or automotive embedded C++. Proficiency in Java and Kotlin for writing clean, tested framework-level code. Working knowledge of C++ (11/14/17), including classes, STL, smart pointers, and basic concurrency. Understanding of Android architecture, including activities, services, Binder, AIDL, system services, permissions, and platform-layer development. Experience building and flashing an AOSP image, with comfort using repo, Android.bp/Android.mk, lunch, make, adb, and fastboot. Familiarity with HAL concepts, interface declaration, service provision, and framework binding. Awareness of SELinux, including reading denial messages and proposing rule changes. Basic understanding of vehicle networks such as CAN, DBC files, and SOME/IP. Minimum of 3 years of specific experience in Automotive Digital Cockpit Solutions is mandatory. A full-time education of 15 years is required.
