This position centers on building AI-native, HANA-optimized SAP applications. You will leverage deep ABAP on HANA engineering expertise combined with advanced AI patterns, including LLMs and retrieval mechanisms. The goal is to produce production-grade solutions that harness HANA pushdown principles and modern ABAP development, integrating governed AI capabilities for intelligent workflows.

Design and develop high-performance ABAP solutions specifically for SAP HANA, emphasizing pushdown principles for efficient data processing. Build sophisticated data models and access patterns using CDS views, associations, and annotations. Implement performance-critical logic with AMDP/SQLScript, ensuring rigorous testing and governance.

Develop modular, testable, and maintainable ABAP code following clean architecture practices and enterprise SDLC standards. Construct robust services and APIs using modern paradigms like OData, ensuring stability and contract-first behavior. Consistently apply secure coding standards and authorization checks across all layers.

Model enterprise business entities using CDS semantics to support both transactional and analytical needs. Design reusable data artifacts that facilitate downstream consumption by UI, integrations, analytics, and AI retrieval systems. Ensure lineage-friendly structures and consistent business definitions for clarity.

Build AI-enabled SAP experiences by integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities, focusing on tool calling, retrieval-grounded outputs (RAG), and deterministic fallbacks. Implement prompts, tool schemas, and context assembly strategies to minimize hallucinations and maintain enterprise safety.

Develop automated tests for ABAP services and data artifacts to ensure regression coverage for performance and correctness. Establish evaluation frameworks for AI behaviors, including offline datasets, scenario-based tests, and online monitoring. Introduce guardrails for AI outputs, such as authorization-aware filtering and action confirmations.

A strong command of ABAP Development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown techniques, and efficient SQL access patterns, is essential. Proficiency with CDS views and modern data modeling practices, encompassing associations, annotations, and authorization concepts, is required.

Experience with AMDP/SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios and controlled code pushdown is necessary. A solid foundation in software engineering discipline, including clean design, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and a focus on production readiness, is expected.

Demonstrated ability in AI-native development, including LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and establishing safety boundaries, is a key requirement. Familiarity with OData/service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development is highly beneficial.

Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is advantageous. Knowledge of SAP security/authorizations and compliance requirements for sensitive enterprise data is strongly recommended. A minimum of three years of experience is required for this role.
