As a Custom Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing innovative software solutions. Your role will involve designing, coding, and enhancing components across various systems and applications, utilizing modern frameworks and agile methodologies.

This position focuses on creating scalable, high-performing solutions precisely tailored to unique business requirements. You will leverage your expertise to build AI-native, cloud-ready SAP solutions on ABAP Cloud, integrating deep ABAP and SAP platform knowledge with advanced AI architectures, LLM tooling, and rapid experimentation.

The role is centered on designing, implementing, and scaling intelligent SAP applications. This involves seamless integration of ABAP Cloud with LLMs, retrieval pipelines, and enterprise systems, driving a transition from automation towards autonomy. You will be actively building AI systems, not merely consuming AI tools.

Design and construct ABAP Cloud applications that embed LLM-driven intelligence directly into SAP business processes. Implement AI-enabled SAP extensions using the RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), event-driven patterns, and cloud-native architectures. Develop clean, testable ABAP code that integrates flawlessly with AI services and enterprise APIs. Integrate LLMs, embeddings, and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) pipelines with ABAP Cloud services for contextual, grounded responses. Design effective prompt templates, grounding strategies, fallback logic, and safety boundaries suitable for enterprise SAP use cases. Build and integrate retrieval pipelines using both SAP and non-SAP data sources, including business objects, CDS views, documents, and events. Implement robust chunking, indexing, and embedding processes to support production-grade RAG scenarios. Ensure factuality, traceability, and explainability within AI-driven SAP workflows. Develop evaluation frameworks for AI behaviors integrated with SAP processes. Design guardrails for authorization, data privacy, action boundaries, and error handling. Incorporate observability into AI-enabled SAP applications through telemetry, logging, and failure analysis. Prototype quickly, demonstrate progress frequently, and iterate based on business feedback. Transition AI prototypes into enterprise-grade SAP production systems, prioritizing performance, security, and compliance. Continuously refine AI behavior, prompts, and orchestration strategies for optimal outcomes.

A minimum of three years of professional experience is required.

A full-time education spanning 15 years is a mandatory qualification.

Essential skills include SAP ABAP Cloud (RAP, CDS, OData, clean core principles), hands-on experience integrating LLMs and AI services, and a proven ability to build RAG pipelines, embeddings, and contextual retrieval. You should possess strong software engineering fundamentals, including design, testing, and CI/CD, and the capacity to translate complex business problems into AI-enabled SAP solutions.
