As a Custom Software Engineering Lead, you will architect and maintain robust backend and Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) applications, particularly for OTT and digital media environments. The position involves technical design leadership, API creation, seamless AWS integration, performance tuning, and active production support.
Spearhead Node.js and AWS development as a Subject Matter Expert.
Design and build scalable backend and BFF services using Node.js and TypeScript. Create RESTful and GraphQL APIs for core services such as catalog, metadata, entitlement, and playback management. Develop API aggregation layers for diverse platforms including Web, Mobile, Smart TV, and Set-Top Boxes.
Integrate a wide array of AWS services like Lambda, ECS, EKS, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway, and more. Define robust API contracts, data models, and effective caching strategies. Lead feature development cycles from conception to deployment, ensuring code maintainability and scalability with comprehensive automated testing.
Manage dependencies, apply security patches, and oversee framework upgrades. Conduct thorough troubleshooting for production issues and perform root cause analysis. Support deployment processes, including release validation and rollback procedures.
Provide accurate effort estimations, technical guidance, and risk assessments. Mentor engineering teams and foster collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders. Participate in on-call rotations for continuous production support.
A minimum of 3 years of experience is required, with a preference for 2-5 years in relevant fields. Educational qualifications include 15 years of full-time education.
Key technical proficiencies include AWS Application Development, Node.js and TypeScript development, RESTful API and GraphQL development, and a strong understanding of Microservices Architecture and Distributed Systems. Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, and API Gateway is essential. Familiarity with frameworks like Express.js, Fastify, or NestJS, and relational/NoSQL databases is required.
Proficiency in testing frameworks like Jest, Mocha, and Supertest, along with experience in Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is crucial. Knowledge of Blue-Green and Canary Deployment strategies, production support, troubleshooting, and performance optimization is necessary. Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills are vital for this role.
