We are seeking a Custom Software Engineer to develop innovative AI-native, cloud-ready SAP solutions. This role leverages deep ABAP and SAP platform expertise alongside agentic AI architectures and LLM tooling to build intelligent SAP applications. You will integrate ABAP Cloud with LLMs, retrieval pipelines, and enterprise systems, driving solutions from automation to autonomy. This position actively involves building AI systems, not just utilizing AI tools.

Our focus is on creating advanced SAP applications that can reason, retrieve, and act, fostering faster innovation cycles. We aim to deliver scalable, secure, and AI-powered SAP extensions aligned with clean core principles, laying the groundwork for autonomous, AI-driven enterprise workflows.

Design and construct ABAP Cloud applications that embed LLM-driven intelligence into core SAP business processes. Implement AI-enabled SAP extensions using the RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), event-driven patterns, and cloud-native architectures. Develop clean, testable ABAP code that seamlessly integrates with AI services and enterprise APIs.

Integrate agentic workflows, including tools, planners, memory, orchestration, and evaluation loops, within SAP processes. Connect LLMs, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines with ABAP Cloud services to achieve contextual and grounded responses. Craft prompt templates, grounding strategies, fallback logic, and safety boundaries appropriate for enterprise SAP use cases.

Build and integrate retrieval pipelines utilizing both SAP and non-SAP data sources, such as business objects, CDS views, documents, and events. Implement chunking, indexing, embeddings, and context assembly to support production-grade RAG scenarios. Ensure factuality, traceability, and explainability within AI-driven SAP workflows.

Implement evaluation frameworks (offline and online) for AI behaviors integrated with SAP processes. Design robust guardrails for authorization, data privacy, action boundaries, and error handling. Incorporate observability into AI-enabled SAP applications through telemetry, logging, and failure analysis.

Rapidly prototype, demo frequently, and iterate based on business feedback. Transition AI prototypes into enterprise-grade SAP production systems, prioritizing performance, security, and compliance. Continuously refine AI behavior, prompts, and orchestration strategies.

A minimum of 3 years of experience is required, with a preferred range of 2-5 years. A prerequisite of 15 years of full-time education is necessary.

Essential skills include SAP ABAP Cloud, covering RAP, CDS, OData, and clean core principles. Demonstrated hands-on experience integrating LLMs and AI services into applications is crucial. Proficiency in building RAG pipelines, embeddings, and contextual retrieval is expected. Strong software engineering fundamentals, including design, testing, and CI/CD, are vital.

Candidates must possess the ability to translate complex business problems into effective AI-enabled SAP solutions. Beneficial skills include experience with SAP BTP, eventing, APIs, and cloud services. Familiarity with agent frameworks or custom orchestration logic, as well as exposure to vector databases, search, or semantic indexing (SAP native or external), is strongly recommended.

Knowledge of enterprise security, authorization, and compliance patterns is advantageous.
