Join our team as a Custom Software Engineer, focusing on crafting advanced SAP applications and extensions. This role leverages AI-native patterns, including LLMs and agentic AI, alongside HANA optimization. You will build high-performance, production-grade solutions by applying HANA pushdown principles, modern ABAP techniques, and governed AI capabilities. The focus is on creating systems that can reason, retrieve context, and assist within enterprise SAP workflows without the need for training foundation models from scratch.

This position offers a unique opportunity to integrate deep ABAP on HANA engineering expertise with cutting-edge AI functionalities. You will be instrumental in delivering solutions that are not only scalable and efficient but also intelligent and adaptive, addressing complex business needs within the SAP ecosystem.

Design and develop ABAP solutions optimized for SAP HANA, ensuring maximum in-database processing and minimal data movement. Build efficient data models using CDS views and implement performance-critical logic with AMDP/SQLScript. Develop modular, testable, and maintainable ABAP code following clean architecture principles and enterprise SDLC standards. Construct robust services and APIs using modern paradigms like OData, ensuring stability and contract-first behavior. Model enterprise business entities using CDS semantics for transactional and analytical consumption. Develop AI-enabled SAP experiences, integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities for tool calling, retrieval grounding, and deterministic fallbacks. Implement automated tests for ABAP services and data artifacts to ensure regression coverage for performance and correctness. Establish evaluation harnesses for AI behaviors, including offline datasets and online monitoring. Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces for production support and root-cause analysis. Design robust error handling for enterprise flows, incorporating retries, idempotency, and safe failure modes. Integrate ABAP on HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, collaborating with cross-functional teams for end-to-end solution delivery.

Possess strong hands-on expertise in ABAP Development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown techniques, and efficient SQL access patterns. Demonstrate proficiency with CDS views and modern data modeling practices, such as associations, annotations, and authorization concepts. Showcase experience with AMDP/SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios and controlled code pushdown. Exhibit solid software engineering discipline, including clean design, a testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and a focus on production readiness. Have AI-native build capabilities, encompassing LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and the establishment of safety boundaries. Require 15 years of full-time education, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in SAP ABAP Development for HANA.
