This dynamic role blends hands-on database administration with strategic engineering efforts, focusing on platform modernization, cloud integration, automation, and the advancement of our Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) capabilities. As a key database subject matter expert, you'll collaborate closely with application teams, infrastructure specialists, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver robust, secure, and scalable database services while championing operational excellence and innovation.

Shape and deploy enterprise database environments aligned with business needs and company standards, building architectures that support high availability, scalability, and security. Collaborate with vendors and architects to define standardized database solutions and contribute to strategic initiatives like platform modernization and cloud transformation. Administer and support databases across development, testing, and production environments, ensuring their stability and performance. Proactively monitor database health, conduct root cause analysis for issues, and implement preventive measures. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation post-onboarding. Optimize database performance and resource utilization, plan for capacity, and resolve bottlenecks. Design, implement, and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, including backup and recovery strategies. Implement robust database security standards, manage access controls, and ensure compliance. Drive automation for operational efficiency using scripting languages and configuration management tools. Provide expert technical guidance on database architecture, performance, and best practices to development teams and project stakeholders. Document operational procedures, technical standards, and service descriptions, while fostering knowledge sharing and mentoring team members.

We are seeking experienced professionals with several years of hands-on experience administering databases in enterprise settings. Demonstrated expertise in database design, implementation, administration, and performance optimization is essential. You should have a proven track record supporting business-critical applications and highly available database platforms, ideally within global and cross-functional organizations. Proficiency in core database technologies is required, including Oracle (Single, Data Guard, Standby). Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL is a plus. Strong command over operating systems such as Linux/Unix and Microsoft Windows Server is necessary. Automation and scripting skills are highly valued, particularly with Ansible and programming languages like Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or Shell/Bash. Familiarity with hybrid cloud technologies like AWS RDS and Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) concepts is important. Experience with enterprise backup solutions and database-native backup tools (e.g., RMAN, pg dump, mysqldump) is expected, with Commvault being a preferred skill. You must be adept at monitoring database health and performance using tools like GOP monitoring tools, and proficient in managing incidents and service requests using enterprise ITSM tools, ensuring timely resolution and effective knowledge sharing.
