Join the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team, a cornerstone in building the next generation of cloud infrastructure. We are developing foundational IaaS technologies powering a vast, distributed, and multi-tenant cloud environment. Our mission is to provide secure, highly available, and high-performance cloud infrastructure that our customers trust for their most critical workloads.
The Virtual Cloud Networking (VCN) Dataplane team focuses on the software-defined networking stack, ensuring predictable performance, robust isolation, and cloud-scale availability for OCI virtual networks and connectivity services.
As a Software Engineer within the VCN Dataplane team, you will be instrumental in developing and enhancing the infrastructure, deployment automation, and operational systems that support our core networking services. This involves working extensively with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, distributed systems, observability tools, and network-specific services to deliver resilient production capabilities.
Key responsibilities include: - Designing, developing, testing, and operating IaaS components and deployment workflows for OCI networking services. - Building and maintaining Terraform-based infrastructure and deployment automation. - Developing and refining CI/CD pipelines for dependable, repeatable, and safe software delivery. - Automating operational workflows using Python and Linux-based tooling. - Collaborating with dataplane, platform, and service teams to ensure highly available distributed systems. - Enhancing service observability through metrics, dashboards, alerts, and logging. - Investigating and resolving production issues related to deployments, infrastructure, network behavior, and service reliability. - Gaining a deep understanding of end-to-end packet-processing paths within virtualized cloud-networking environments. - Contributing to AI-assisted or agentic automation initiatives to boost engineering productivity, operations, or service intelligence.
This role is ideal for engineers passionate about building and scaling cloud infrastructure. A strong foundation in software development, particularly with Python and Linux-based systems, is essential. Experience with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform and a solid understanding of CI/CD principles are crucial for success.
Familiarity with distributed systems, observability practices, and core networking concepts within a cloud context is highly valued. The ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and troubleshoot complex production issues is also key. While specific experience levels are not detailed, a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving is encouraged.
