Join our core infrastructure team as an Engineer, contributing to the implementation and enhancement of distributed systems. This role focuses on applying scalability principles, conducting performance testing, and refining system resilience against network variability. You'll be instrumental in delivering features, developing fault-injection tests, and supporting data replication initiatives.
This position involves building robust telemetry and alerting systems, maintaining operational documentation, and participating in on-call rotations. You will leverage automation and infrastructure-as-code to resolve issues efficiently, adhering strictly to change management, security, and compliance protocols, including encryption and access controls.
Key responsibilities include assisting in the design and implementation of scalable distributed system components, optimizing code for large-scale data processing, and ensuring scalability requirements are met for assigned areas. You will also execute performance and load testing, and learn about data plane platforms for data retrieval and processing.
Collaborate on building fault-tolerant components, learning about redundancy, replication, and failover mechanisms. Apply recovery-oriented computing principles to component designs and configure/test retry mechanisms, circuit breakers, and timeouts to manage network unreliability. Support incident response by drafting and executing runbooks, and help build dashboards and alerting for component health monitoring.
Implement functional requirements and testing for assigned features, developing test scenarios like fault-injection to assess system correctness. Assist in implementing data replication and synchronization techniques for data integrity. Diagnose and debug system component issues, following protocols to prevent interruptions and minimize maintenance windows. Run automation scripts for troubleshooting and participate in operational support rotations, including incident response and root cause analysis.
Assist in implementing security measures like encryption and access controls. Execute remediation plans for identified security gaps and support documentation updates for compliance with industry standards. Maintain automation scripts and tools, and adhere to change management plans for applications.
We are seeking candidates with 3-5+ years of industry experience in commercial or open-source software development. A strong command of C++, Java, or similar modern languages is essential, alongside excellent problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and building cloud-scale control plane systems is required. Proficiency in systems programming, including multi-threading and concurrency, is crucial. A solid grasp of distributed systems concepts, covering consistency, scaling, and failure recovery, is also necessary.
Candidates should have experience with implementation testing, debugging, and documentation, particularly within a Linux development environment. A BS in Computer Science is required, with a Masters degree being preferred. We value intense curiosity, a willingness to question established practices, and a passion for improving systems.
