Join our team as a Core Infrastructure Engineer 2 and contribute to the enhancement of existing distributed systems. You'll apply fundamental scalability principles, conduct performance and load testing, and implement resilience strategies to manage network variability. This role involves delivering scoped features, developing fault-injection tests, and supporting data replication and synchronization efforts under the mentorship of senior engineers.

Additionally, you will build essential telemetry and alerting systems, maintain operational runbooks, and participate in on-call rotations. Utilizing automation and infrastructure-as-code scripts will be key to troubleshooting. You'll adhere to established change management, security, and compliance procedures, including encryption and access controls, escalating complex issues as needed.

Collaborate on implementing and optimizing components within distributed systems to support horizontal and vertical scaling. Refine code for large-scale data processing and implement scalability requirements for assigned components. Gain experience with data plane platforms for data retrieval, storage, and processing.

Assist in building fault-tolerant systems, learning about redundancy and failover. Apply recovery-oriented computing principles to component designs and configure/test retry mechanisms, circuit breakers, and timeouts. Implement testing and alarming configurations, and support recovery efforts by drafting and executing runbooks. Help develop dashboards, telemetry, and alerting mechanisms to monitor component health.

Implement functional requirements and testing for assigned features. Create test scenarios, including fault-injection, to evaluate system correctness. Support the implementation of basic data replication and synchronization techniques. Aid in diagnosing and debugging system components, and run automation scripts to troubleshoot operational issues. Participate in operational support rotations, incident responses, and root cause investigations.

Assist in implementing security measures like encryption and access controls, and support remediation plans. Contribute to documentation for cloud infrastructure compliance. Maintain automation scripts and tools (e.g., IaC) and adhere to change management plans for applications.

This role requires 3-5+ years of industry experience in commercial or open-source software. A strong command of C++ or Java, alongside excellent problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems is essential.

Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) and building control plane systems for cloud-scale operations is crucial. You should possess strong systems programming skills, including experience with multi-threading and concurrency. A solid foundation in distributed systems concepts such as consistency, scaling, and failure recovery is expected.

Proficiency in implementation testing, debugging, and documentation within a Linux development environment is necessary. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science is required, with a Master's degree being preferred.
