Join our dynamic Technology & Transformation practice as a Mainframe Application Support Engineer in Pune. This role is crucial for ensuring the stability, performance, and integrity of our critical mainframe applications.

You will be an integral part of the Development & Application Maintenance and Support (AMS) team, tackling incident management, root cause analysis, and minor enhancements within a complex COBOL, DB2, and CICS environment.

Provide robust Level 2/Level 3 support for production mainframe applications, ensuring rapid troubleshooting and resolution for batch and online transaction issues. Manage on-call rotations for 24/7 business process availability and conduct thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence.

Analyze, design, and implement bug fixes and small enhancements in COBOL. Optimize DB2 stored procedures and complex SQL queries. Update CICS transaction logic and perform impact analysis for code changes to ensure seamless integration with downstream systems. Monitor and manage batch job flows, troubleshoot JCL errors, and maintain CICS transaction environments.

We are seeking candidates with expert-level COBOL and advanced DB2 skills, including SQL, bind/plan management, and performance tuning. Proficiency in CICS for transaction monitoring and screen handling is essential, alongside strong JCL and IBM utility experience. Familiarity with mainframe debuggers (IBM Debug Tool, XPEDITER) and file management tools (File-AID, File Manager) is required. Experience with SCM tools like Endevor or Changeman is also necessary.

Preferred qualifications include 4+ years of mainframe application support experience, industry knowledge in banking, insurance, or retail, and an understanding of mainframe integration with cloud/distributed environments. Excellent analytical thinking, the ability to perform under pressure, and strong communication skills are highly valued.
