Join Deloitte's Technology & Transformation practice as a skilled Consultant specializing in Kafka migrations. This role is pivotal for a high-visibility on-prem Apache Kafka to AWS MSK migration project within the ETO Factory team. You will focus on critical areas such as cluster discovery, topic mapping, capacity planning, migration execution, validation, and performance tuning.

This position offers the opportunity to leverage your expertise in distributed messaging systems and contribute to a structured delivery process. Collaboration with application, infrastructure, and platform teams is essential to ensure safe and scalable migration execution.

As a Kafka Migration Engineer, you will assess on-prem Kafka clusters, analyze workloads for MSK placement, and plan/provision AWS MSK infrastructure. You will execute UAT and production parallel testing, perform performance tuning, and partner with various teams to finalize migration plans.

Key responsibilities include managing release readiness, executing production cutovers, supporting legacy cluster decommissioning, and designing automation frameworks. Documenting procedures, operational learnings, and best practices will also be a crucial part of your role.

Candidates should possess 3-5 years of hands-on engineering experience with distributed messaging systems in a collaborative environment. Proficiency in programming languages like Python or Java, along with strong Unix/Linux fundamentals, is required. Familiarity with SDLC practices, CI/CD, and Kubernetes deployments is also expected.

Technical competencies include experience with various AWS services, Apache Kafka architecture, AWS MSK, and migration tooling like MirrorMaker 2. A solid understanding of cloud migration strategies, Kafka ecosystem components, networking, security, and automation frameworks is vital. Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills are essential for success in this role.
