This role is within the Microsoft Infrastructure Engineering Services (IES) organization, offering a unique opportunity to be a strategic partner to the business. As a Cloud Network Engineer, you will architect and implement cutting-edge Secure Edge networking solutions, aligning with Microsoft's Zero Trust strategy. Your responsibilities include designing and building enterprise-scale connectivity using Azure Networking, Global Secure Access (GSA), and various firewall technologies. You will drive the modernization of traditional network infrastructure to cloud-native, software-defined platforms and develop next-generation architectures for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
This role involves creating migration strategies, partnering with cross-functional teams, and influencing engineering standards and operational practices. You will also champion AI-driven engineering for enhanced operational efficiency, automation, and predictive analytics. Responsibilities extend to leading incident resolution, performing root cause analysis, maintaining service reliability, and overseeing the design and operation of cloud and enterprise network infrastructure, including deep work with Layer 3 technologies and observability platforms.
We are seeking candidates with a strong technical background in network design, development, automation, and operations. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or computer science field combined with 2+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 1+ year of experience, is required. Alternatively, 5+ years of direct technical experience in network design, engineering, security, and automation will be considered.
Essential qualifications include extensive hands-on experience with Azure Networking, Azure Firewall, Palo Alto Firewalls, Azure Virtual WAN, Global Secure Access (GSA), VPNs, DNS, Load Balancers, IDS/IPS, Proxy, and SSE solutions. A solid understanding of Zero Trust Architecture, network segmentation, and security monitoring is crucial. Deep expertise in BGP, MPLS, IPv4/IPv6, routing, switching, and SD-WAN is a must, along with experience troubleshooting large-scale environments using Cisco, Palo Alto, Arista, and Azure platforms. Excellent automation and scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Terraform, etc.) and strong problem-solving and communication abilities are vital for success in this role.
