Join Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) as a Campus Commissioning Manager, playing a vital role in building the cloud infrastructure that powers global online services. This position is central to delivering state-of-the-art data center capacity, managing complex, multi-year construction and lease projects.
You will collaborate with a diverse range of experts, including data center architects, engineers, construction managers, and operations teams. The role demands meticulous execution against scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring the deployment of the latest datacenter technology. A key focus will be the commissioning process for Lease and Build Projects in Pune and Hyderabad, with support for other regional projects in India.
This role involves managing the end-to-end commissioning process for assigned data center lease projects and providing secondary support for other CO&I commissioning initiatives.
Key duties include: - Developing and maintaining best practices for quality and cost-effectiveness. - Overseeing the contracted Commissioning Agent for data center construction. - Creating and enforcing Commissioning Procedures and Standards. - Conducting construction site inspections for QA/QC and commissioning. - Driving the commissioning process, managing scope and schedule. - Regularly reporting on construction progress, QA/QC, commissioning status, and KPIs to management. - Coordinating vendor activities and integrating lessons learned. - Managing client representatives and partners on scope, schedule, and budget alignment. - Participating in owner/architect/contractor (OAC) meetings and reporting progress. - Developing, managing, and reporting on the commissioning process scope and schedule for CO&I projects. - Supporting the CO&I Program through independent work. - Contributing to the data center commissioning project delivery strategy aligned with the CO&I roadmap. - Refining practices and developing methods for solution delivery, including commissioning procedures. - Providing input into long-term delivery strategies and project execution plans. - Managing vendor oversight and performance.
To excel in this role, a strong technical background and extensive experience in data center construction and commissioning are essential.
Minimum qualifications include: - 10+ years of relevant technical engineering experience. - Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or technology field with 5+ years of technical engineering experience. - Or, a Master's degree in a relevant field with 4+ years of technical engineering experience. - Or, a Doctorate degree in a relevant field with 4+ years of technical engineering experience. - A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in Data Center facility construction and/or commissioning. - At least 5 years of overall construction experience. - A minimum of 5 years of experience with electrical and mechanical test equipment. - Demonstrated expertise in Data Center Commissioning, Construction QA/QC, and Project Management. - Understanding of Data Center Operation and Maintenance, including UPS systems, switchgear, generators, and critical mechanical systems. - Ability to develop and write detailed Commissioning Scripts. - Strong skills in issue identification and resolution management. - Proficiency in MS Office Suite, MS Visio, MS Project, and MS Teams.
Preferred qualifications enhance your candidacy: a Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of experience, a Master's degree with 7+ years of experience, or a Doctorate with 4+ years of experience. Certifications such as Commissioning Certification, OSHA 30, NFPA-70E, or PMP are highly valued. Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check and any required security screenings is mandatory.
