We are seeking a Business Analyst II, also known as a Product Owner (L8), to join our UK product team. This role focuses on UK domestic clearing products, where you will spearhead enhancements and shape requirements for new products and services that leverage existing platforms. The ideal candidate possesses a passion for navigating complex change environments and working with well-established products.
As a Product Owner, your primary objective is to maximize product value by meticulously managing and prioritizing the backlog to align with overarching business goals and customer needs. You will serve as the central point of contact between stakeholders and the delivery team, ensuring that all requirements are clearly defined and thoroughly understood. Your decision-making authority on scope and priorities will guide the team towards achieving the most impactful outcomes.
Key duties include owning the product vision and working backwards documents for feature releases, identifying and chartering new platform capabilities, and utilizing research, user studies, metrics, and competitive analysis to grasp platform and business needs. You will compare features for competitive review to inform prioritization, identify innovations, and conduct test-and-learn experiments to create value-added features. Additionally, you will collaborate with the business on customer research, contribute quarterly input to the platform product portfolio and roadmap, and make trade-off decisions on features. Utilizing runtime metrics as a feedback loop into the backlog and balancing priorities against new feature requests are essential. You will also exhibit expertise within your feature area, coordinate with interdependent teams, and digest business and platform requirements.
Further responsibilities involve having visibility into user experience design, determining release goals, and prioritizing features based on business and platform value, adjusting as needed. Continuous monitoring of feature development, reviewing product demos against acceptance criteria, and preparing for launches while monitoring platform performance are crucial. You will stay aligned with Go-to-Market plans, identify and communicate potential delivery issues to leadership, and support post-launch reviews, ensuring feedback is incorporated. Collaborating with internal teams and customer service to address feature-level customer issues, developing and implementing new metrics, and independently researching anomalous performance will be part of your role. Coordinating internal forums to identify development opportunities, owning product documentation to enable self-service support, and identifying feature risks from customer feedback and operational analysis are also key aspects of this position.
You will also establish and expand your internal and external networks, mentor team members, and assist with candidate selection and onboarding.
We are looking for an experienced Product Owner with a proven history of success in financial services. A strong understanding and practical experience with UK payment domestic clearing products and services, such as Bacs or Real-Time (FPS) payments, are essential. You should be adept at producing comprehensive business requirements specification documents and skilled in eliciting and analyzing business change, functional, and non-functional requirements from a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities are a must, complemented by strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with both internal teams and external clients.
Key experiences sought include a deep understanding of customer needs and the ability to translate them into actionable product requirements. You should be adept at contributing to product vision and roadmaps, regularly analyzing market research and business drivers. Managing and prioritizing team backlogs, guiding story creation with high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria, and prioritizing backlog items based on cost of delay are critical. Supporting the team in delivering value by balancing stakeholder perspectives and making informed implementation decisions is also vital. Finally, a proactive approach to obtaining and applying feedback from customers and stakeholders to mitigate the risk of developing low-value solutions is highly valued.
