The Data team at Confluent acts as the company's central nervous system for all data-related initiatives. Our BI organization is actively transitioning towards a modern Analytics Engineering model, emphasizing reusable data structures and governed self-serve data access.

As a BI Developer / Analytics Engineer, you will be instrumental in accelerating analytics for Finance, Field Operations, and Go-To-Market (GTM) stakeholders, including Sales and Customer Success. This role requires a blend of sharp business acumen and advanced analytics engineering skills.

You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, Data Scientists, and Data Engineers to transform complex business questions into reliable datasets, production-ready transformations, clear semantic definitions, and insightful dashboards or self-serve analytics experiences.

Key responsibilities include: - Partnering with stakeholders to grasp business processes, define key metrics, and engineer scalable analytics solutions. - Constructing and maintaining trusted datasets and reusable data models using SQL-first analytics engineering practices. - Developing and managing production-grade ELT workflows with tools like BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, and Git. - Delivering analytical insights for critical business reviews through in-depth analysis and proactive identification of data or process improvements. - Creating high-quality dashboards and self-serve analytics using tools such as Tableau and Hex. - Enhancing data quality, governance, and observability through documentation, testing, and root-cause analysis.

We are seeking a BI Developer / Analytics Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in BI, analytics, or analytics engineering roles. Essential expertise includes strong SQL development, data modeling, and a proven track record in delivering analyses and reports.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong sense of ownership and excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones. Proficiency in expert-level SQL and experience with modern cloud data warehouses like BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks are crucial. Familiarity with dbt and orchestration tools such as Airflow is highly preferred.

Demonstrated ability in building scalable semantic models and curated reporting layers that enhance self-serve analytics is expected. Experience with BI tools like Tableau, Hex, Looker, or Power BI is necessary. Strong stakeholder management, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to translate ambiguous business needs into well-governed analytical solutions are key.

Preferred qualifications include experience in B2B SaaS, particularly in GTM, customer, or financial analytics. Python coding skills for reusable data functions and API integrations are a plus. Familiarity with CRM and business systems data, along with experience in BI or Cloud services migration and analytics governance practices, would be advantageous.
