EY is seeking a dedicated Clinical Consultant or Clinical Domain Specialist with extensive knowledge of provider and payer workflows, coupled with robust expertise in clinical documentation and comprehensive healthcare operations. This role requires hands-on experience across various clinical workflows, documentation enhancement, and regulatory adherence, providing both strategic guidance and execution support for healthcare consulting projects.

Responsibilities

Map intricate end-to-end clinical workflows spanning inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory care environments. Support initiatives focused on Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) to enhance accuracy, completeness, and overall compliance. Develop a strong understanding of medical necessity, charge capture, and reimbursement intricacies within established workflows.

Identify opportunities for operational enhancement by pinpointing workflow inefficiencies and documentation gaps. Foster close collaboration with clinical staff, operations teams, revenue cycle management, and IT departments. Ensure alignment between provider clinical documentation practices and payer requirements. Contribute to the redesign of processes, refinement of policies, and development of comprehensive consulting deliverables. Prepare essential documentation, including detailed workflow maps, requirement specifications, and actionable recommendations.

Qualifications

Possess 4–8 years of relevant experience in clinical settings, healthcare operations, or healthcare consulting. Demonstrate a deep understanding of provider and payer clinical workflows and operational frameworks. Highlight hands-on experience with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) methodologies. Exhibit knowledge of medical necessity, charge capture, reimbursement principles, and readiness for audits.

Showcase strong familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Highlight experience collaborating with cross-functional clinical, operational, and technology teams. Possess excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management proficiencies. Preferred qualifications include experience with US healthcare providers, payers, or integrated delivery networks, alongside exposure to utilization management, care coordination, or revenue cycle processes.
