Join our dynamic team as a Systems Administrator II, a crucial front-line technical resource. In this role, you'll serve as a mentor and escalation point for junior team members within our Systems Operations department. Your primary focus will be monitoring, triaging, and resolving issues in a world-class 24/7/365 production environment. You will also collaborate with various teams to proactively prevent or minimize the impact of potential problems. This is achieved by leveraging strong troubleshooting abilities and a deep understanding of our infrastructure and production pipelines.

As part of the 'Eyes of Glass' initiative, you'll actively monitor and respond to alerts, providing essential Level 1 support. You'll ensure clear and timely communication regarding alerts, escalations, follow-ups, and closure to multiple organizational teams. This position involves supporting diverse engineering and internal teams in maintaining our server infrastructure, including firmware upgrades, system provisioning, and decommissioning processes. Daily tasks will include managing tickets in Jira/SNOW for user management, monitoring adjustments, and permission-related issues. You will also liaise with external vendors for escalation and hardware/software support.

Key responsibilities include participating in small to medium-scale application and infrastructure implementation projects, ensuring adherence to Systems Operations monitoring standards. You will provide support for assigned operational tasks and communicate effectively with supervisors and peers, transmitting routine information that may require some interpretation.

This role demands the ability to resolve infrastructure operational issues of moderate to high complexity, following established procedures or performing data analysis for root cause identification. You'll communicate with internal contacts across various organizational levels, explaining and resolving problems for both technical and non-technical audiences. Active participation in supporting high-profile events is also expected.

A minimum of three years of progressively complex, related experience is required. Candidates must possess a BA/BS degree in Computer Science, a related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience. We are seeking a proactive thinker with strong problem-solving skills.

Essential technical skills include extensive experience with Linux (Installation, Configuration, Tuning), proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python, and experience with Ansible and Ansible Tower. A good understanding of security and networking concepts is also necessary. Experience with IPMI tools and utilizing infrastructure monitoring solutions like Icinga and Zabbix is required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong troubleshooting and interpersonal skills, are crucial for this role. The ability to work non-traditional hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, is also a requirement.

Preferred qualifications include three or more years of infrastructure monitoring experience, familiarity with Varnish caching, and hands-on experience in installing and configuring Icinga2 and its web interface. Experience creating Nagios check plugins, along with installing and configuring Zabbix and its web interface, are considered advantageous.
