This role focuses on leading the design, development, and operation of scalable Java-based services and APIs within an Engineering as a Service environment. You will be instrumental in defining architectural standards, driving technical excellence, and ensuring the reliability and security of our cloud-hosted applications.

As an Assistant Manager, you will guide engineering teams, influence technical decisions, and collaborate across departments to deliver complex, multi-system initiatives. A strong understanding of system design, microservices patterns, and cloud best practices is essential for success in this position.

Define scalable service boundaries, data flows, and resiliency patterns for complex systems. Develop and enforce enterprise-grade Java applications using Spring Boot and modern integration techniques. Design robust RESTful APIs and microservices, adhering to best practices for versioning and backward compatibility. Architect and deploy services on AWS, prioritizing cost, security, and reliability. Champion engineering standards through rigorous code reviews and mentorship, fostering a culture of clean, secure, and effective code. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across the technology stack, implementing strategic optimization techniques. Collaborate on data modeling and optimize SQL queries for efficient database operations. Establish comprehensive observability through logging, metrics, tracing, and robust alerting systems. Implement security fundamentals for APIs and services, addressing authentication, authorization, and common vulnerabilities.

Possess a minimum of 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a proven track record of delivering production Java services and APIs in enterprise settings. Demonstrate prior team leadership experience, encompassing sprint execution, technical mentorship, and effective cross-team coordination. Showcase experience leading intricate, multi-system projects from initial design through successful delivery, managing dependencies, trade-offs, and stakeholder expectations. Be adept at producing architectural documentation, such as High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documents and sequence diagrams, and effectively communicating technical decisions to diverse audiences. Have practical experience designing and operating cloud-hosted applications, with a keen focus on security, monitoring, and cost management.
